Special election early voting for Senate District 29 Republican primary kicked off on Tuesday.

Republican candidates are Jim Coy and Ricky Hill. Coy works in sales and marketing while Hill is a banker and farmer

Lonoke County early voting will be held from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Cabot Public library, 909 W Main Street in Cabot.

Polling sites will be open for the Republican primary from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

The winning Republican nominee will then face off against Jacksonville attorney Steven McNeely who is running unopposed in the Democratic primary. The Senate District 29 General Election will be held May 22.

The District 29 seat became vacant following Eddie Joe Williams resignation on Nov. 15, 2017 for a federal appointment. Williams is serving as President Donald Trump’s representative to the Southern States Energy Board.

Senate District 29 covers portions of Lonoke, Faulkner, Pulaski and White counties in central Arkansas.
