The Lonoke County Election Commission met on May 30, to certify unopposed candidates from Primary Election earlier that month.


In the first order of business, the commission discussed and later voted to relocate county voting machines to the annex building, in an effort to house them in a more temperature controlled environment.


Secondly, the commission addressed county assessor candidate Teresa Cruse’s request for a recount. After discussion, the commission unanimously voted to deny the Cruse’s request since her request was not in accordance to the law.


In final discussion during the meeting, the commission unanimously approved the certification of the unopposed list of candidates.


Unopposed candidates include: Lonoke County Judge Doug Erwin, Circuit Clerk Deborah Oglesby, Lonoke County Treasurer Patti Weathers, Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley, Justice of the Peace for District 1 Brent Canon, Justice of the Peace for District 2 Henry L. Hawkins, Justice of the Peace for District 3 Henry L. Lang, Justice of the Peace for District 4 Claud Irvin, Justice of the Peace for District 5 Robert Gilliam, Justice of the Peace for District 6 Jerry Cole, Justice of the Peace for District 7 Adam K. Sims , Justice of the Peace for District 9 Linda K. Waddell, Justice of the Peace for District 10 Bill Ryker, Justice of the Peace for District 11 Mike Dolan, Justice of the Peace for District 12 Patty Knox and Justice of the Peace for District 13 Bob Morris.
