Saturday: The Hickory Plains United Methodist Church will hold a fish fry and bluegrass fundraiser from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Hickory Plains Park to raise money to help rebuild the church which was recently destroyed by fire. Music by Arkansas Edition, a bluegrass/gospel band, will start at 6 p.m. Cost is $12 for adults and $7 for children 5-12. Children under 5 eat free. Monday-Thursday: The Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Humnoke Arkansas will hold its Vacation Bible School from 6-8:30 p.m. for ages 5 through teens. July 30-Aug. 3: Landmark Missionary Baptist Church at 517 E. Third. in Carlisle will hold Vacation Bible School from 6-8:30 p.m. for two years old through 6th grade. A nursery will also be provided. This year’s theme is Sonlight Express and will include puppet show, Bible lessons, music, games and crafts. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
