Lonoke’s girls track squad has won team titles in meets at Lonoke, Heber Springs and Bald Knob already this spring, and the Lady Rabbits look to peak with the most important meets left.

Lady Jackrabbit coach Angela Watson said Monday she already had two juniors who had met Class 4A state qualifying marks. Gracie Hyde has qualified in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200. Keiunna Walker has qualified in the high jump and long jump.

“And we hope she’ll qualify in the triple jump, 400 and 100,” Watson said, referring to Thursday’s meet at Beebe.

She said Hyde had run the 800 in 2:14 and the 1,600 in 5:04. She won the Class 4A state cross country title last fall.

Walker, who placed in four events in the state meet last year, has gone 17-2 in the long jump this spring, two inches off her best last year.

Watson said she thought Hannah Mosley could qualify in the discus and Kennedy White in the long jump and 400.

“We’re Just hoping for good weather for Thursday so we can get some good performances,” she said.

The junior high district meet will be Wednesday, April 19, with the senior high meet April 26.
