Lonoke’s Lady Jackrabbits recently picked up the first win in the history of the young program, a 1-0 decision over Jacksonville Lighthouse.
“The girls were beyond excited to get our first win,” Mallory Jackson, coach of the first-year program, said. “It really boosted their confidence and showed them that hard work does pay off. We have set small goals throughout the season, and that was our ultimate goal.”
The Lady Jackrabbits were 1-10 heading into Monday’s game at Conway St. Joseph (3-4). They will play host to Jonesboro Westside (1-9-1) Thursday and Conway Christian (1-3) Monday, April 24. They will finish the regular season April 27 when they play host to Southside Batesville (10-3).
“We would love to get another one,” Jackson said. “We have set small goals throughout the season, and that was our ultimate goal. The girls work hard. Even on our off days, they want to do something.”
Since the win, the Lady Jackrabbits have lost to Brookland, 7-0; Mountain View, 3-0; and Heber Springs, 5-1.
“We still have a lot to work on, but they are starting to understand the game more,” Jackson said of her first-year players. “It is awesome to see how much they have improved since our first practice. I am so proud of these girls for trying something new, sticking with it, and accomplishing their goals.”
