It is state tournament time and three Cabot High School teams have qualified for post-season play.
But it is more than just getting there.
Girls soccer, baseball and softball all earned first-round byes in their respective Class 7A state tournaments that start this week in northwest Arkansas and the River Valley.
Cabot is the top seed and also the No. 1 team in the state by MaxPreps.com. The same poll as them as the No. 20 team in the country.
The Lady Panthers have been simply sensational this season. Rolling to a 21-2 overall record and 14-0 in the conference action.
Their tournament will start at 10 a.m. on Friday against the winner of Roger-Bryant.
The semifinals will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the No. 2 team on Cabot’s side of the bracket is Fayetteville.
One of Cabot’s two losses this season was to Fayetteville on March 4.
Soccer will be played in Fort Smith with the championship match to be at the University of Arkansas.
Coach Chris Cope has his team at 25-4 overall and the No. 2 in the tournament. The Lady Panthers are No. 4 in the state in the latest MaxPreps.com poll.
The second round game will start at 2:30 p.m. on Friday against the winner of Van Buren and Fort Smith Southside.
The semifinals would again be at 2:30 p.m . and on Saturday.
The No. 1 seed on Cabot’s side of the bracket is Bentonville.
Conference rivals Bryant and North Little Rock are both on the other side.
Games will be played at Fayetteville High School with the state championship game to be at the University of Arkansas with the date and time to be announced.
As winners of the 7A-Central, Cabot enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed.
The Panthers will get going at noon on Friday against the winner of Van Buren and conference rival Little Rock Catholic.
Cabot is 22-7 overall and ranked as the No. 3 in the state by MaxPreps.com.
The semifinals will be at Noon on Saturday with the finals at Baum Stadium on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
