Lonoke’s Lady Rabbit volleyball squad improved to 3-2 last week with a three-set victory over LISA Academy.

Laura Park’s team, which faced Episcopal Collegiate on Tuesday, will travel to Helena-West Helena Central (0-2 at press time) Thursday and to Baptist Prep (5-4) on Monday, Sept. 11, and will play host to KIPP Delta on Tuesday, Sept. 12. All except Baptist Prep are combined conference 1A-4A District 9 matches; Baptist Prep is a 4A-Central opponent.

“Baptist has a good program, and they’ve been improving over the last several years,” Park said. “I think they’re going to be a tough team.”

She said the Helena-West Helena Central program had stabilized with its returning coach.

“She is trying to get more kids involved and trying to turn the program around,” Park said of Tiffany Gant. “Any time you can have consistency in coaching, it always helps. I’ve been on that end before where you just don’t have girls with the knowledge.

“They’ve had a lot of coaching turnover the last five or six years.”

Against LISA Academy, the Lady Rabbits rolled, 25-6, 25-16, 25-15.

“Everyone got to play,” Park said.
