Carlisle’s football Bison fell to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in 6-2A competition last week after a 28-12 loss to Palestine-Wheatley.


Mark Uhiren’s team will play host to Brinkley on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Tigers, who were off last week, are 0-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The game is Homecoming for the Bison.


The two teams are a combined 0-6 against three common league opponents. Palestine-Wheatley beat Brinkley, 47-8. Des Arc prevailed over Brinkley, 45-14; and Carlisle, 20-12. Hazen rolled over Brinkley, 55-0; and Carlisle, 55-6.


Last year, Brinkley finished 2-7, tied for eighth in the league. Six starters returned for the Split Back offense and the 4 Front defense.


Carlisle won this game last year, 40-36.


McCrory leads the league at 6-1 overall, 5-1 in conference play. Hazen is 4-2 and 4-0. Des Arc and Palestine-Wheatley are tied for third at 4-2, 4-1 and 5-1, 4-1, respectively. Clarendon and Carlisle are tied for fifth at 1-5 and 1-3. Marvell-Elaine is seventh at 0-5 and 0-4 with Brinkley eighth.


The top five teams will advance to the Class 2A state playoffs.
