For the 16th consecutive season, Lonoke has qualified for the state volleyball tournament.
The Lady Rabbits will play next week in the Class 4A State Tournament at Southside Batesville after Monday’s 4A-Central District Tournament win over Helena-West Helena Central.
Lonoke, which swept through combined conference 1A-4A District 9 12-0, improved to 17-3 overall with a win over the eighth-seeded Lady Cougars, 25-10, 25-8, 25-4. The top-seeded Lady Rabbits were to face No. 4 Central Arkansas Christian in Tuesday’s semifinals.
“We served well as a team,” assistant coach April Manning said. “We’re really excited to make it to state again, but we’re anxious to see what the next few games bring us.”
The bottom half of the bracket included No. 2 Southside Batesville over No. 7 Riverview in three sets and No. 3 Baptist Prep against No. 6 Joe T. Robinson.
Semifinal winners were to play in the district championship Wednesday with semifinal losers to play a third-place match for seeding purposes.
To finish the regular season last week, the Lady Rabbits rolled over Jacksonville Lighthouse, 25-5, 25-2, 25-11.
