Carlisle’s Lady Bison, 14-3 following Monday’s 69-61 win over Brinkley, will play host to Abundant Life on Friday.
The Lady Owls opened the week 5-13, including a loss to Carlisle.
“We won 53-26, but it felt a lot closer than that,” Lady Bison coach Jonathan Buffalo said Sunday. “We got off to a great start. We were up 17-2, but they clawed back.
“They’ve got some good basketball players over there. We’ve got to come out and be ready to start the game and sustain it through the second quarter. That’s kind of been a problem for us this year.”
The Lady Bison will visit Jacksonville Lighthouse (0-9 at press time) on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Carlisle won that first meeting also, 64-12.
“That will be on the road and in a different environment, so it’s an opportunity to get more kids some playing time.”
Against Brinkley on Monday, Kylie Warren led Carlisle with 39 points. Blakely Ellis added 15.
“Tough environment,” Buffalo said.
Last week, the Lady Bison beat England, 73-58. Carlisle led after one quarter, 17-7; and at halftime, 32-26.
“We did a pretty good job coming out of halftime,” Buffalo said. “We outscored them in the third quarter, 21-8.”
DeShaye Ricks led the Lady Bison with 20 points. Warren added 17 and Heather Bowlan and Shelby Hancock nine apiece.
“We’re starting to get more balance,” Buffalo said.
Last week’s scheduled game with Marvell was postponed until Monday, Jan. 22, after the pipes froze and burst in the Marvell gym. The Lady Bison were to play Hazen on Tuesday, but that game was also postponed after the death of a male athlete over the weekend. At press time, Buffalo said at press time, no date was set for the make-up game.
