The Cabot Lady Panthers softball has dropped two in a row after starting the season 4-0.


Cabot beat Benton 16-0, Searcy 3-1, Vilonia 11-2 and Benton 2-1 before falling to Bryant -1 and Bentonville 3-2. The last three games took place in a tournament at Benton.


In Cabot’s 3-1 win against Searcy last week, the score was tied 1-1 after one inning. The Lady Panthers scored twice in the fifth then held Searcy scoreless after the first inning.


Cabot pitcher Ashlyn Spears allows five hits and one run in seven innings of work. She struck out 12 and did not walk a batter.


Cabot finished with eight hits in the win. Riley Walthall was 3 for 4 to lead the Lady Panthers. Grace Neal was 2 for 3. Also getting hits were Leah Gerald, Spears and Rylie Hamilton.


Walthall scored two of the runs. Neal scored the other.


In Cabot’s 16-0 season-opening win over Benton, the game lasted four innings. Cabot scored three in the first, six in the second, two in the third and five in the fourth.


Gerald and Neal each scored four runs. Walthall had three. Aubrey Lee scored two. Kirsten Jones, Reed and Hamilton scored one run each.
