Carlisle’s softball team took last week off for spring break, but it was a momentous time for coach Lonnie Roberson and his wife, Candace.

Their daughter, Carly-Ann Nicole, was born March 21, joining older brothers Tyson and Rudy.

“We are wrapped around her finger right now,” Roberson said Sunday.

The Lady Bison were 5-4 entering Tuesday’s conference doubleheader with Clarendon (1-2). They will visit Brinkley (0-6) on Wednesday and visit Abundant Life (3-1) for a doubleheader Thursday before traveling to Palestine-Wheatley (8-2) on Tuesday, April 3.

“We are really looking to find some consistency in our movement off the bat this week,” Roberson said Monday. “We are also wanting to take some chances on some of our defensive trap plays and keep working on our timing with the pitcher’s motion on steals.

“Overall, we have improved considerably; we just need more time on the field to get better with defensive communication. Base running has improved, but we have a ways to go as far as looking for more than just one base off of batted balls.”
