The Cabot Lady Panthers softball team improved to 16-5 on the season with wins against North Little Rock, Mount St. Mary and Beebe in the last week.


Cabot is now 7-2 in the 7A-Central, trailing first-place Bryant, which is 8-0.


In the 5-3 win over North Little Rock, Cabot trailed 2-0 after the top of third. Cabot scored three runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 3-2 lead. North Little Rock tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth.


Cabot reclaimed the lead at 5-3 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Scoring the go-ahead runs were Ashlyn Spears and Layne Smith.


Spears, Aubrey Lee, Rylie Hamilton, Riley Walthall and Smith each scored a run.


Cabot had 12 hits in the game. Getting two hits each were Spears, Lee, Hamilton and Grace Neal. Getting one hit each were Leah Gerald, Walthall, Smith and Kaitlyn Campbell.


Spears got the win. He struck out eight in seven innings of work, allowing only one earned run.


In the 15-0 win over Mount St. Mary, Spears threw a three-inning no-hitter. She struck out four.


In Cabot’s 14-1 win over Beebe, the Lady Panthers scored three in the first, four in the third and seven in the fourth.


Lee was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double and six RBIs.


Sami Romano got the win. She allowed one run on four hits.
